There’s nothing better than waking up to surprises in the automotive world. Especially one that you had no idea was coming and involves Ken Block with his 600hp RX43 Ford Fiesta Rallycross car. No, I’m not talking about the next Gymkhana video, at least not technically. In this one, Block and the rest of the Hoonigan crew have teamed up with Pennzoil to bring something a bit different with “Terrakhana.”
What makes Terrakhana so damn impressive is the fact that Ken and his crew took the RX43 off-road, and to a very special place. The call it “Swing-Arm City” and it’s quite literally an off-roaders paradise located in Southern Utah, not far from the “Mecca of Offroading” known as Moab. Where Moab is rock crawling and red rocks, Swing Arm City is massive black sand-like hills formed into “wedge-like” mountains. The surface isn’t regular dirt, instead, it’s what they call “bentonite clay” and it’s light and fluffy. So when you have a hardcore hot-hatch rally car with 600hp sent to all four wheels, you’re going to be able to shoot some massive roost while sliding all over the place. And we all know Ken Block has mastered the art form of sliding all over the place.

When asked exactly what “TerraKhana” was meant to be, Block told reporters, “It’s basically taking that driving style that I do in the Gymkhana videos and applying it in other unique situations. This new one we’re doing it in a unique dirt-type situation. I’ve always wanted to take that driving style and do different things with it.”
There is no question that it’s different than his previous videos and that’s the best part about it. Off-road driving is one of the most fun things you can do with a vehicle and I can’t even imagine how fun it would be to do something like this in a race bred rally car that’s pushing out 600hp. Speaking of the Fiesta RX43, Block also told reporters, “It’s already setup with the Gymkhana style engine with 600hp, which is more than I would normally have on dirt. It’s too much power.” I had to do a double take when I realized Ken Block just made a comment about a car having “too much power.” Isn’t this the same guy every moto enthusiast knows and loves that has a custom built Hoonicorn Mustang that’s pushing out well over 1400hp?
Nonetheless, Terrakhana is straight up badass in every sense of the word. It will make you want Block’s lifestyle even more than you already did. And it might even make you want to make the journey to Southern Utah so you can experience the one of a kind terrain in Swing Arm City.
