Travis Pastrana is arguably the king of hardcore actions sports for a variety of reasons, most importantly because he’s so multi-talented throughout the many different variations. Just a few weeks back we reported on him smashing the course record at the Mt. Washington Hillclimb in his Subaru WRX STi. And not long before that, we talked about his mind-blowing skills on a dirt bike when he pulled yet another world first by adding a “front flip Superman Indian air,” and that’s just been within the last few months and doesn’t include the many other examples Pastrana has to his credit. He’s now going to be adding another badass motorsports adventure to his credit when he links up with the star-powered Polaris RZR team for the upcoming Vegas to Reno off-road race.
The team will consist of four members, all of which are well known and highly respected names in the world of motorsports. First up is Tanner Foust who is another all around motorsports athlete that can compete with the best of the best when it comes to any vehicle that has four wheels and a steering wheel. Granted, he doesn’t have the motorcycle skills that Pastrana has, but that’s not really relevant considering they will be piloting a heavily modified Polaris RZR. Next, we have the beautiful and talented Jolene Van Vugt, who also works as a member of the original Nitro Circus cast alongside Pastrana and has proved her willingness to go above and beyond what most people expect she could do. The fourth member of the team is Jim Beaver, who isn’t quite as well known as the other three, but yet those that closely follow off-road racing will surely recognize his name.
Even with a well built Polaris RZR and four talented drivers, it’s going to be a long and grueling race that will push both the drivers and the vehicles to their limits. That’s because the Vegas to Reno is a 550-mile offroad battle through the harshest Nevada deserts which makes it the longest race of its kind in America.
Apparently, Pastrana was looking to add another adventure to his long list of accolades, and the Vegas to Reno was the perfect fit. When talking to reporters, Pastrana had this to say: “I can’t wait to race the Polaris RZR Star Car in Vegas to Reno. The event is legendary! I’ve always wanted to compete and couldn’t be more excited to get this opportunity in a race-modified side-by-side. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
The major offroad event is scheduled to kick off August 18th and considering there will be an entire field of Trophy Trucks also competing at the race, it’s definitely going to be a good one. So keep an eye out for Pastrana and the rest of the “Star Car” team as they battle it out against some of the best in the business.
It's an all-star crew for the Vegas to Reno this month! Travis Pastrana joins Jolene Van Vugt and Jim Beaver in the Polaris RZR Star Car for the longest off-road race in the USA. #RZRStarCar
