Just in case you haven’t been paying attention the snow reports, the Rocky Mountains have received more than their fair share of snow this year. This is fantastic news for the skiers, snowboarders, and especially the snowmobile riders as the backcountry is producing some of the best conditions in years. But what do you do if you don’t have access to a sled or a snow bike and you’re a gearhead with the desire to go play in the winter wonderland waiting for you outside? That’s simple, you take the next best option, a tow rope, some inner tubes, a few friends, and of course a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo wrapped in purple camo.
Admittedly, I realize this sounds absolutely ridiculous but that’s exactly how YouTube Star, The Stradman, has been enjoying his winter season. He’s the proud owner of a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo that started as a stock orange Gallardo and now it looks like Jon Olsson designed it with the slimline ski box and unique camo pattern wrap, only purple.
I have to applaud him for utilizing that all-wheel drive supercar in the winter. More times than not, supercar owners park their cars during the winter months when they could be out driving them. I do want to clarify something though, that’s all wheel drive supercars like the Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Lamborghinis. Rear wheel drive supercars like the Mclaren, Ferrari, and Porshe 911 GT3 RS for example, absolutely should be parked in a garage until the snow melts. The reason is actually quite simple, having up to 500hp or more sent to only the rear wheels in snow is worthless, you can barely even move so what fun is that. Therefore it’s not worth the wear and tear on the vehicle, nor the risk of some idiot running into you and damaging your beautiful car.
