Mclaren decided to tease us and go ahead and reveal way early its brand new 2017 McLaren 570GT. And man is it something worth waiting for. McLaren is going so far as to say this car is “the most luxurious and relaxing of any McLaren to date.” Wow. How’s that for hyping up a release. What a bold statement considering McLaren has already built a reputation for building some very fine automobiles.

Part of the reason they are making that claim though is the fact that this car was designed to kind of be a hybrid vehicle, extremely sporty for those that want the feel of a true high performance car, but also with a sense of practicality for regular “every day” use. It seems like their attempt to merge those two things primarily comes down to extra trunk space and a bit more room in the cabin.

According to the company, McLaren’s 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8remians from the S version, which produces 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle still powers the rear wheels. All in all, the 570GT is 82 pounds heavier than the 570S due to the changes that were made to this car to make it a bit more practical. Some of those comes from added glass for the rear window and some from such changes as iron disc brakes.

On the outside the car is, well, simply gorgeous, as one would expect from a McLaren. It won’t be cheap to own one of these, but then again McLaren isn’t trying to build for the average Joe. Starting price for the 570GT will be about $201,000. That’s a lot of dough. But if you have the cash, then money isn’t really your concern anyway. Performance and comfort is. And turning heads. Clearly you wouldn’t be disappointed with any of those requirements with this new McLaren. Seems like it will be money well spent.
