When it comes to pulling G forces on consistently there really isn’t anything that can compete with what professional racing drivers in the Formula One and Indy Car series. Yeah, there’s Top Fuel Drag Racing that might pull more, but for shorter periods of time.
There’s one other aspect of Motorsports that sometimes gets overlooked, and that’s Air Racing. Pilots like Kirby Chambliss use these incredibly powerful little airplanes that may as well be the definition of agile. Chambliss uses a plane called an Edge 540 V3 that while it may only have a 340hp engine it can still hit speeds around 265mph or more. But what’s really impressive is that during competitions, pilots will experience as much as 10G’s and not black out like most human beings.
So what would happen if you put an Air Race Champion like Chambliss and had him go along for a ride with an IndyCar driver, not just any driver but Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi. Then as a point of comparison, have Rossi go for a ride with Kirby in his plane. Which driver do you think will feel the most at home in the other vehicle? Who’s going to show signs of sickness first? Well, thanks to Redbull we can now find out.
RedBull has been known to do these types of things before, check out what happens when Sportbike Champion Guy Martin races F1 Champion David Coulthard around Silverstone.
