The amount of pressure produced in an engine is explosive, to say the least, and that’s before you start adding in power adders like superchargers and turbochargers. Harnessing that power is what makes everything with a motor so appealing in the first place right? Well, when things go bad it usually results in a spectacular sight, as long as nobody gets hurt of course. Diesel engines especially are under crazy amounts of pressure for many different reasons one of which being there’s usually a significant amount of turbocharging involved. We came across this video that’s almost a perfect example of just how much pressure we’re talking about here. It appears to be a high-performance diesel engine which means boost is likely to be up over 50psi coming from the turbochargers. Something goes wrong where exhaust pressure wasn’t able to release and BOOM, there goes the top of the motor.
