There have just been reports that Dougie Lampkin has ridden a wheelie for the entire 37.7 miles of the Isle of Man TT course! Even saying that seems absolutely ridiculous, but the fact of the matter is it happened. Now it probably should be mentioned that Lampkin is a professional trials rider and was using a trials bike for the monumental achievement, which granted might make it easier to do, but not easy enough that anyone else has attempted it.
To be a bit more specific, Lampkin is actually a 12 time World Trials Champion so he is obviously extremely talented when it comes to balance. But even still maintaining a wheelie for that distance is incredibly impressive. He apparently battled strong winds the entire 37.7-mile lap of the famous TT course. Normally when referring to the TT, lap times are around 20-30 minutes, with record laps as low as 17 min 49 seconds set by Mark Higgins just this year. But when you’re riding a wheelie the entire time it’s going to take you just a tad longer. Not only did Lampkin ride a wheelie for a total of 37.7 miles, but it took him 1 hour and 35 minutes to do it!
