Located in Leicestershire, U.K. sits a private 2 mile runway where every year a large gathering of some of the fastest and most exotic cars in the world takes place. Known as the Vmax200, this event gives automotive enthusiasts the opportunity to really open up their cars and see what kind of top speed they can reach. There are a few of these style of events all over the world but it seems as if the VMAX brings out the best of the best.
Started in 2002 by Craig Williams, who at the time was just your every day oil broker, who invited a small group of super car enthusiasts to bring their cars for top speed runs. Word traveled very quickly and the following year Williams was bombarded by people wanting to attend. They had to change it where multiple events were held each year because so many people wanted to come out and play.
The event kept growing and growing and before long it was featured on that other popular car show, Fifth Gear. Lexus used the 2011 event to debut the LFA and starting in 2012 there were manufacture specific events held by both BMW and Audi. One of the world most popular supercar clubs known as Auto Vivendi purchased the VMAX200 with intentions of capturing global attention to the events. They event went as far as to host the event at the famous Dunsfold Park, or more commonly known as the Top Gear Test Track!
At the 2016 running of the event is when the Koenigsegg One:1 hit a record 240mph that we featured recently.
Here are a few random races from events over the years. Tell us what you think, can you say bucket list!
The exhaust note on this Avendator SV is music to my ears. This is another one to crank up the speakers too.
