In an unexpected turn of events, a fully electric car just put the eco-friendly hurt on one of the most iconic sports cars of our time, the Porsche 911. Tesla’s Model S P100D just set a new record over at Motor Trend, going 0-60 in 2.27 seconds. That’s five hundreds of a second faster than a 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S. Did we mention it’s a 4 door? Oh and it weighs a whopping 4,891lbs. Pshh, no biggie. It also tied the 911 in the quarter mile with a very impressive 10.5 second pass at 125mph. All from a car that can carry your entire family, including the dog, while still having room for groceries on the way back. By comparison, a similarly configured BMW M6 stretches from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, almost double the time of the P100D. Very impressive from an iPad on steroids.

Check out the full write up over at Motor Trend for all the details and a great breakdown of how Tesla pulled this off.
