Offroad racing is fun no matter what type of competition you’re doing. But it’s always nice to have a vehicle that can complete on multiple different fronts. One of which that I think is a perfect example of that is the Rock Bouncers we’ve talked about before. These vehicles are custom built with long travel suspension systems that’re designed to climb crazy hills and rocks are a much faster pace than say regular rock crawling. But they can also do that slow paced, more technical rock climbing with the best of them.

You could also argue that these rock bouncers could compete in something like the King of Hammers event also, and they probably could. But one form of racing I hadn’t thought of is Formula Off-Road that’s so popular overseas. You may remember us talking about the craziness of these Formula off-roaders and how they were coming to America with their ridiculous horsepower and massive shots of nitrous to help shoot them over the top of a near-vertical cliff face.

Well, a guy by the name of John Campbell who competes on the Rock Bouncing circuit signed up to participate in the American Formula Off-Road series. Even though his buggy was quite a bit heavier than the vehicle normally used, plus had far less horeslpower that didn’t stop him from going out and having a great time, and even putting on a god show for the fans in attendance. Campbell managed to make it to the to the top of the first hill, which nobody expected he would. He struggled a little bit more on the 2nd and 3rd hill but still had a few great attempts. It really is amazing what these guys are able to do in these vehicles, the videos really do no justice in showing how steep and loose these hills really are. No wonder they have those massive paddle tires.
