Back in 2013, a small car manufacturer from Croatia called Rimac Automobili debuted a fully electric car they claimed to be the first electric “supercar”. It was a great looking car and had phenomenal performance specs, so good actually that it seemed to be one of those “too good to be true” type scenarios. With a total power output of 1,088hp thanks to four electric motors, one at each wheel, the Concept One had an estimated 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds.
But then it seemed like it just fell off the map and you never heard about it again. At least until about a month ago when a video surfaced of the Rimac taking on the mighty Tesla P90D and LaFerrari on the drag strip where the Concept One dominated. I mean its one thing to beat the Tesla in a drag race where it’s been almost unbeatable, but to beat the LaFerrari is no joke. Maybe there’s some truth to this COncpet One being the first electric supercar.
Well, the Rimac is at it again and it’s going up against another member of the Holy Trinity of hypercars. In this recent video put out by YouTuber Salomondrin where he somehow got in touch with Mate Rimac, the founder of the company, and arranged a drag race between the Concept One and Solomondarin’s Porsche 918 Spyder. Now we know the 918 to be one of the fastest accelerating cars on the planet right now so if anything could put the electric car back in its place, the Porsche would do it. Well, that didn’t happen. Not even close.
