The Le Mans track, also known as the Circuit de la Sarthe, which in its current configuration is almost 8.5 miles long making it one of the longest circuits in the world. But its also one of the fastest as a matter of fact, its been reported that 85% of the time spent on the track, you’re at full throttle. What better track to ride along “shotgun” in the most badass Aston Martin ever build, the 800hp Vulcan. At least until the AM-RB 001 comes out, but until then!

Now one of the reasons its so fast is mostly due to the famous Mulsanne Straight that stretches almost 4 miles long. Racers are able to reach speeds well over 200mph and hold those speeds for longer than anywhere else. However cars were getting so fast that two chicane turns were added to help slow drivers down. But with as fast as race cars are now, getting up over 200mph takes no time at all, so this area of the track is still extremely fast. Bugatti bossman got the Chiron up to 236mph recently for example.

Aston Martin released this video of the Vulcan making a full lap on the circuit de le Sarthe, and we get to ride along as if we were in the passenger seat. If you remember, the Vulcan is the naturally aspirated 800hp V12 Aston that is not only illegal on the street, but also illegal on every track in Britain due to it sounding too awesome, or loud if you’re not into that sort of thing. I was a huge fan of racing on this track when I would play those semi-simulation style racing games like Forza, Gran Turismo, or even the uncommon but really good title GRID. Especially the ones that would let you race on the pre-chicane configuration. So when I came across this video I was immediately drawn to it.

That feeling of mashing the throttle and being thrown into the back of the seat as the naturally aspirated V12 comes alive is something only a very small handful of people will ever experience. But at least these videos get to help the rest of us paint a vivid picture in our dreams and daytime imagination.
