There has been a lot of anticipation regarding the new 2017 Raptor, and by anticipation I also mean slight disappointment. At least for a lot of gen 1 owners. That eco-boost V6 just isn’t sitting well with the off-road enthusiasts of the world, something about having a V6 powering a full size truck that also happens to be the baddest off-road truck on the market just seems so wrong. Ford is determined to change everyone’s mind by releasing little bits of information every now and then, when really they just need to announce actual power figures and be done with it. This makes us wonder what’s going on over there. Maybe, just maybe, there’s still hope for a V8.
The most recent feature might actually be interesting, Baja Mode. There will be few other terrain modes like Weather, Normal, and Rock Crawling which might be pretty fun too. But The star of the show is the Baja Mode because which is obviously what the Raptor was born to do, crush baja-style terrain. It will be interesting to see how this all comes together. It looks and sounds great, like it’ll have all the right parts to make something special, with two major exceptions though, the fact that its a V6, and the exhaust note of course even if it is twin turbo.
Here’s more details released by Ford Performance, take note of the sound it makes even though the terrain modes are pretty badass.
