There are thousands of mud truck videos out there from all the mud fests, mud nationals, mud jams, and just about any other word you can throw behind the word mud. Even though mudding really isn’t my thing, when I stumbled into one that featured a long jump competition I had to investigate.
First off a mud truck and jumping isn’t normally something that would go together. I mean mud trucks are tall, and usually top heavy, with massive tires meant for one thing only. But as with almost every other Motorsport on the planet, mud trucks are evolving. Now they have these trucks that are sometimes referred to as “mega trucks” because they are definitely not your every day backwoods built mud slinger. In the past I’ve seen them described as essentially a competition worthy monster truck with smaller tires. They say that because these mega trucks feature engines that have upwards of 2000-2500 hp and have some serious suspension work done.
This long jump competition was held at the Maximum Power Park in Poland, New York and within the first 30 seconds you’ll see what attracted me to this video. One of these crazy powerful mega trucks comes flying off what appears to be a pretty good size jump, way higher and farther than I expected, onto a flat landing! I couldn’t even believe it, a flat landing with a truck that has to weigh close to 10,000lbs falling from 30-40ft or more. You can probably guess what happened, but if you can’t you’ll just have to watch the video and see.
Thanks to AwesomeDocumentary for the video.
