Who would’ve thought that we needed another motorcycle with a big monster engine normally used for powering a full size car. When Dodge debuted the Tomahawk back in 2003 that sported the Viper V10 and had four wheels placed close together to resemble a motorcycle, but was technically a leaning quad, it looked like something out of a science fiction movie. Who in their right mind would would be willing to sit on a 500hp V10 that had four wheels attached to it, especially when the theoretical top speed was 420mph! Ok, so maybe we would but that’s beside the point. The Tomahawk was obviously never made and stayed in its concept form.

But there have been other motorcycles made with big engines. Boss Hoss for example puts V8’s into Harley Davidson Frames and they sell the shit out those things. Apparently they ride like a dream, according to a guy I ran into a few summers ago that has three of them, one for his wife, one he had turned into a show bike, and the other of course was to ride. Yeah, even his model looking young wife road a Boss Hoss that had a Chevy 350 pushing out close to 400hp.

If you like the idea of having a ridiculous amount of horsepower between your legs you’ll be happy to hear that a small design firm in France has come out with a “leaning quad” similar to the Tomahawk. They are calling it the LM847 and the first thing you notice will be the enormous V8 stuffed into a motorcycle frame. That isn’t just any normal V8 either, it’s the one Masserati used in the Quatroportee and was also used in the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione that produces 470hp and 457lb-ft of torque. Interestingly it doesn’t have a transmission and uses a single speed and hydraulic couplers, similar to what we talked about yesterday with the Koenigsegg Regera.

The riding position seems a lot better on the LM847 than it was on the Tomahawk. It’s supposed to have some sort of reactive chassis that will help when leaning into turns, especially going back and fourth with rapid S type turns. It’s going to take some giant size steel balls to go fast enough on this thing to where you need to worry about “leaning” into turns, and then maybe some giant diamond balls to be doing “rapid S turns”. Please get it on high quality video if anyone ever does though. We want to see it. It’s one thing to jump on this thing and just go flat out in a straight line, he’ll that’s something I would be willing to do right now. But you start throwing in turns where you have to lean that 900lb beast into corners, oh hell no.

Lazereth is no stranger to the unique and crazy as they have built some pretty wild vehicles in the past. Some of the more popular have been the Wazuma GT which uses the 375hp 4.0L supercharged Jaguar V8 to power this half car half motorcycle looking thing that has four wheels and only weighs 2170lbs. It’s surely going to be wicked fast.
