While KTM has been extremely successful over the last few years, running in both the Moto3 and Moto2 classes, they have yet to test the waters of MotoGP. Well, 2017 will be the year all of that will change, fielding two riders on an all new package. Both Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro are coming over from the Tech3 Yamaha squad, adding an interesting dynamic to the new KTM team. It’s worth noting that both riders have had a successful racing relationship, even winning the 8-hours of Suzuka together aboard the Yamaha Factory Racing R1. This relationship could very well speed up development, hopefully allowing the team to be more competitive earlier on in the season.

The bike its self is nothing extraordinary, at least by MotoGP standards. It will feature the standard V4 configuration that many teams have adopted. It’s a gorgeous looking machine, one that will fit in very well in the paddock. Overall the most exciting part of this bike is the name backing it, KTM. KTM has a strong racing pedigree; if they can adapt that to this level of competition they will be an absolute force to be reckoned with. Either way, this video should get you pumped for the 2017 MotoGP season that kicks off this weekend.
