The summer is starting to come to a close here in North America so doing any snowmobiling right now is pretty much out of the question. That is unless you are crazy enough to try riding your sled on water, or even better replace the front skis with some ATV tires and go that route.
Well legend of the snowmobile backcountry, Chris Burandt, has come up with a much better idea, although it’s definitely going to be a lot more expensive. He and a buddy took their Polaris Pro RMK’s down to the southern hemisphere, Chile specifically, where it’s winter and there’s actually snow on the ground! From the looks of this sweet video put out by the Klim YouTube channel, the snow looks spectacular. I think it’s fairly safe to say that snowmobiling isn’t the most popular sport down there, but you know what that means, fresh tracks all day long.
I believe this is the second time Burandt has made the trek down to Chile to take advantage of the snow during the summer months when he can’t ride back home in Colorado. As you might remember, he runs a snowmobile guide business back home called Burandt’s Back Country Adventures. This isn’t your everyday snowmobile tour where you’re going to stick to the trails all day. This is meant more for the experienced rider that wants to learn some tips and tricks from the best. It’s definitely become a “bucket list” item for every hardcore rider.
So even though it may still be hot outside, grab a warm cup of coffee and sit back and enjoy some of the best machines on the market, with some of the best riders, in some epic snow conditions.
